NIKON S3

The Nikon S3 is the 6th in the Nikon 35mm rangefinder series (not counting the variations made for each base model). The S3 was produced from December 1957 to October 1960 in 12,310 units. 2000 S3 "Olympic" were again produced in April 1964. Serial number starts at 6300001. up to 6322843. The majority of S3 are chrome plated. This model, a simplified version of the Nikon SP, has a viewing window with 3 frames for the focal lengths of 35, 50 and 135 mm optics. The model shown here has a normal curtain shutter. Other models of the S3 may have a titanium curtain.

On the occasion of the year 2000, Nikon rebuilt a special edition of the S3 in 2000 copies.
