Jules Richard’s HOMEOS is a new type of stereo camera that no longer uses glass plates but instead employs a 35 mm film spool. The metal spool on which the film is wound was developed specifically for this camera, enabling it to take 25 double images in the 19 × 24 mm format. The first model (Type I) dates from 1914 and the second (Type II) from 1920. Type I is easily distinguished by the reflex viewfinder between the two lenses, whilst Type II has a viewfinder on top and to the side of the camera. Type II also has several variants; for example, on the model shown here, the film is rewound from underneath the camera, unlike the others where it is done from the top. Hence the small stand I have placed there so that the camera can be laid flat. This ingenious stereo model is in impeccable working order and excellent cosmetic condition.
