Agfa (Aktien Gesellschaft für Anilin Fabrikation) is a German company founded in 1873 in Munich. This is a chemical plant for the production of aniline, a sensitizing dye which was marketed in 1880. The Rodinal developer is produced in 1891 and the first photographic plates in 1894...

The cameras are product since 1891 and Agfa bought the society of cameras Rietzschel. In 1929, a new factory of cameras is built in Munich and became Agfa-Gevaert following the association with the Belgian firm Gevaert in 1964.
